Hunter arrested in Glen Austin
A man was arrested by the Midrand police for poaching and trespassing.
According to Warrant Officer Selvan Reddy, the police received a tip from a member of the Glen Austin Residents Association, who said a known poacher was in the area.
“We were quick to react to the tip off we received and as a result we were able to apprehend the suspect and confiscate the eight dogs he had with him,” said Reddy. He said the suspect (30) was poaching in the Glen Austin area and is an Ivory Park resident.
Danny Maduray from Ria Sebetsa Security said he made the arrest. “The suspect was in the bush, we gave chase, apprehended him and took him to the main road, where Midrand police were waiting to make the arrest.
The police handed over the dogs to the Midrand SPCA which are now in its care. Elsje Naicker, manager at the pound, said some of the dogs handed over had been sterilised. READ MORE
