Reward system to start in Glen Austin

An ex-police reservist and a retired police officer have joined forces and hope to eradicate crime in Glen Austin and President Park. Michael Agliotte and Mark Grant Stuart from Cornerstone Security want to start a networking and training programme for domestic workers and gardeners in the area. “We want to start a reward system where people can give us anonymous tips regarding crime in the area,” said Agliotte. Man hijacked by three men

A man was hijacked at the entrance to Waterfall Business Park on 18 August at 1.20pm. According to Constable Matome Tlamela, communications officer at the Midrand police station, “A new model Polo Player with an unknown registration number parked behind his vehicle and suddenly three men all with firearms approached him.” Tlamela said the suspects grabbed the man’s cellphone, laptop, driver’s licence and car keys and dragged him out of his vehicle before driving away with his car. Students act against crime

Midrand Graduate Institute students fear for their safety which is hindered by criminals preying on them. Students of Midrand Graduate Institute (MGI) are concerned about their safety and well-being following multiple incidents of theft and most recently rape. On 23 August a female student was raped while on Alsation Road in nearby bushes opposite private student accommodation. When questioned about the alleged rape victim students said they had not seen her since the incident, nor do they know if the men were caught and arrested.

Drug dealer arrested

An intelligence driven operation lead to the arrest of a drug dealer. In an intelligence driven operation, Warrant Officer Selvan Reddy, Ria Sebetsa Security Services and the Pretoria Dog Unit arrested a drug dealer in Vorna Valley in possession of uncut Cat with an estimated value of R1.8 million.  READ MORE

Noordwyk house robbed

A man was robbed by two men while drinking tea in his kitchen. According to Constable Matome Tlamela, communications officer at the Midrand police station, the robbery took place on Taaibos Street. Tlamela said the men entered the house though an open kitchen door. “The suspects, who were armed, forced him into his bedroom and made him kneel next to his bed. A carjacking occurred at the corner of New Road and the entrance to Midridge Park. A man was robbed and his daughter raped when two men, armed with a butcher knife, gained access to their house through a broken kitchen window at their President Park home on 14 August at 12.45am.
